Saturday, September 27th, 2008

I received this in the mail yesterday.

I will post anymore info I might get from the Colorado Board of Medical Examiners.

In the meantime I prepare my legal case.

Update on my situtation.

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Well… I am now out of medications and STILL have not been able to get into a new doctor OR get a hold of the quack.  I went into the ER last night only to be talked to like a drug addict and denied treatment.  They didn’t even look at what papers I did have.   I brought in a printout from my pharmacy and a letter the quack wrote for my disability hearing.

It is doctors like Dave Schaut (Dr. Dave) that make patients like mine very diffiicult.   He and doctors like him along with patients who abuse the system is the reason the health care in this country is HORRIBLE.

Yet another reason why ethical doctors are very wary of prescribing anything.

If I only could get my records I would be able to get into another pain specialist without a referral.

I have been doing some extensive digging into this Dr. Schaut’s history and I am very shocked at what I have heard and found.   This guy needs to be stopped.

So Dave… if you are reading this take note:   I am not going to go away and will not give up.  You better hire a good lawyer.

Inappropriate Contact?

That is what one former patient is alleging.

Maybe this is why I can’t get in touch.   I wonder if he is sitting in jail somewhere.

I need my records!

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

I continue to be turned away by new doctors for any number of reasons.   The most common is the fact that I do not have any records from Dr. Schaut other than a letter he signed for my disability case.    I have repeatedly requested my records from Dr. Schaut with no reply.

So if the doctor happens to stop by this site while he is trolling the social networks,

I WANT MY RECORDS!

My Experiance with Dr. Schaut.

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

I started seeing Dr. Schaut back in August/September of 07. At first impression he seemed like a nice guy and after the previous bad experience I had, I really needed a good doctor. I had spent about 20 minutes on the phone with him prior and I got the impression that he really cared for his patients. How wrong I was. There were red flags along the way but I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt. I thought we had worked up a good relationship and I considered him a friend.

He specializes in a procedure called “needling and infiltration” in which he would take a needle with a little bit of steroid and poke the area where the pain was. This was to “break up any scar tissues and “cicatrixs” under the skin.  I had never heard about this before and I have seen a number of pain management doctors about my condition. According to Dr. Schaut, only a handful of doctors in the country perform this procedure.   It is more a “Europe thing”.

After hearing over and over that medication is the only thing that can help me, I was very optimistic about this “technique” and was willing to try anything.    After my first visit he had treated 5-7 spots and told me that I might feel a little nauseous but that it would be normal.    3 days later I had the worst vomiting fits I have ever experienced in my life.   I thought I was doing permanent damage to my insides it hurt so bad.   I ended up in the emergency room thinking I had re-collapsed my lung.    My next visit with the doc he was very surprised to hear my reaction.   He thought that it might have been due to all the spots we did the first time around and this time he would only do 1.   3 days later… same thing.

I ended up having him do it one more time and on the third time he did something that now causes me daily pain.  I was having an issue with my right chest muscle and the nipple area around it.   He poked around under the nipple and at one point “hit bone”.   This caused me a great deal of pain and I started to cry.   I am a tough guy and consider myself to have a very high tolerance for pain.   This was unbelievably painful.

That was the last time I had him treat me with his so called technique.   For the next 8 months I only saw him to refill my medications.   Thanks to what he did to my right nipple, I now have to wear Lidoderm patches almost daily.  These patches cost between $7 and $15 each.    I do not have insurance.

In June of this year a couple days before my next appointment he informed me that he was moving his office.   Over the next 3 months I saw him in a local parking lot.   I would pay him his “fee” and he would write my prescriptions.     I kept hearing stories about how he was about to get a new office.    I guess looking back now I should have started looking for a new doctor then.   But without insurance and the cost of a first time appointment… I really had no choice.

The last time I saw Dr. Schaut was on August 3rd.   He refilled my meds and his last words were “see you next month.”   I have not talked to him since.    I have spent the last 4 weeks emailing and calling him.   Normally he answers my msgs within hours.    His old office line is now disconnected but I have his cell number.    Calls continue to go unreturned.

I thought maybe something had happened to him or he was on vacation.   But he has since changed his voice mail message AND has found time to post on social Internet sites.   I find this behavior beyond unethical, it should be criminal.    From all that I have read and heard, a doctor CANNOT abandon a patient without notice and he MUST release my records.   I am on a large heavy narcotic dose of medications that CANNOT be stopped suddenly.   The risks include stroke, heart attack, and even death.

I am having trouble getting a new doctor because this area of medicine is usually a referral business.   Without my notes from Dr. Schaut I am left hanging with no recourse.  I have spent the last week trying to find a new doctor without any results.

I cannot get a response from him so I am left with this website.   I have all but begged for a response and he continues to ignore me.    All it takes is a simple phone call (weeks ago) to say that he can no longer see me.  This is what you would think an ethical doctor would do.

This website was purchased by me as a favor for the doctor.   I was going to help him create a presence on the Internet.   Come to think of it, I didn’t get so much as a thank you or a discount on “services”.   A real stand up guy this Dr. Schaut is.  (sarcasm)

I have registered a complaint with the Colorado Board of Medical Examiners and I will be pursuing any legal remedies I may have.   He may be guilty of some sort of malpractice.  I am going to find out.

I am looking for any former patients of Dr. Schaut who would be willing to share their story with me.  (good or bad)  Please email me @ SchautAware@gmail.com

If you are Dr. Schaut visiting this page…. SHAME ON YOU.

For everyone else,  steer clear of this quack.

More to come….
